Airline review Lufthansa

Lufthansa is the flag carrier airline of Germany. Lufthansa was founded in 1953 and is the largest airline in Europe in terms of overall passengers carried and fleet size. Important hubs for Lufthansa are Frankfurt (main hub) and Munich. Lufthansa operates worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to more than 215 destinations.

Lufthansa is part of the alliance Star Alliance. Lufthansa operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

Lufthansa offers 3 classes of service. First Class is offered on most long-haul aircraft. Business Class is offered on all long-haul aircraft and most short-haul aircraft. Economy Class is offered on all aircraft.

Our rating:
Advantages of Lufthansa are the diversity and quantity of destinations. The fleet is very well maintained. It is also possible to select a seat and check in online.
Disadvantages of Lufthansa are the seat pitch in economy class on long distances. Not too much legroom although direct European competitors offer more or less the same seat pitch. Lufthansa also offers internet on some flights.

Lufthansa is a good but average airline. No extraordinary performance but a decent airline with good service. Lufthansa operates the Airbus A380, in economy class this could give you the feeling as being a bit locked up. We recommend Lufthansa for flights within Europe and flights from Europe to North America and Canada. For destinations in the Middle East, Asia and Australia there are better alternatives.
