Austrian Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Austria. Austrian Airlines was founded in 1957. Its main hub is Vienna International Airport. Austrian Airlines is a subsidiary of the German airline Lufthansa and operates worldwide scheduled passenger services to more than 130 destinations. All flights are operated by subsidiary Tyrolean Airways under the brand name Austrian.

Austrian Airlines is part of the alliance Star Alliance. Austrian Airlines operates a mixed fleet of Airbus, Bombardier, Fokker and Boeing aircraft.

Austrian Airlines offers 2 classes of service. Business Class, with meals prepared by a chef on board on long-haul flights, and Economy Class.

Our rating:
Advantages of Austrian Airlines are a well maintained fleet and it's possible to select a seat and check in online. An extensive route network to Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Disadvantages of Austrian Airlines are the seat pitch in economy class on long distances. Not too much legroom although direct European competitors offer more or less the same seat pitch. On short flights there is no in-flight entertainment available.

Austrian Airlines is an average airline. No extraordinary performance but a decent airline with good service.
